Hivos proudly announces the selection of a number of fellows to attend the UN Internet Governance Forum (IGF) through its programme IGMENA. Bringing together a variety of backgrounds and interests, the fellows represent seven countries in the MENA region. This initiative provides fellows a unique opportunity to connect and discourse with stakeholders from across the globe on Internet Governance issues.
Hosted in Istanbul, 2-5 September 2014, this year will mark the first time a large civil society group from the Arab region will be present at the meeting, which gathers Internet policy decision-makers from governments and large corporations in the Internet industry from around the world.
The fellowship programme aims to help citizens from the region become civic actors who are well-versed on the topic of IG and human rights so that they can fully participate in the process and advocate effectively for the interests of civil society in the global discussion on IG during this crucial time in which the management of the Internet is under close scrutiny.
